Cho Jeong-sik is Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.

He was born in Seoul on December 25, 1963.
He graduated from Dongsung High School in Seoul and Yonsei University with a degree in architectural engineering. He earned a master's degree from Yonsei University's Graduate School of Public Administration.
He participated in the student movement while in college and, after graduating, took a job under cover as a press operator to engage in the labor movement.
He entered politics in 1992 as an expert committee member in the Planning and Coordination Office of the Unification Democratic Party and gained political experience while assisting the late lawmaker Che Chong-gu.
He was first elected to the National Assembly in the 17th general election in 2004, running in the Siheung B constituency in Gyeonggi Province as a candidate of the Uri Party, now the Democratic Party of Korea. He continued to win the same constituency through the 22nd general election, becoming a six-term lawmaker.
He served in positions including chair of the Uri Party's Public Relations Planning Committee, floor spokesperson of the Democratic Party and secretary general of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy.
In the National Assembly, he served as chair of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee and as the Democratic Party of Korea's ranking member on the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts.
