    Shinsegae’s Finance Veteran Faces Offline Integration and Overseas Expansion

Life Summary

Han Chae-yang is president and CEO of Emart.

He is working to strengthen the competitiveness and profitability of its core business by integrating offline operations, including Emart and Emart Everyday.

He was born in Seoul in August 1965.

He graduated from Mapo High School in Seoul and Yonsei University with a degree in business administration.

He began his career at S-Oil.

After working at SK Telecom, he joined Shinsegae, serving as managing director of the Management Team in Shinsegae Group’s Strategy Office before becoming head of Emart’s Business Support Division, also overseeing management.

He served as executive vice president overseeing management in Shinsegae Group’s Strategy Office before being appointed CEO of Josun Hotels & Resorts in 2019.

He was appointed CEO overseeing the integrated offline retail business group, including Emart, Emart Everyday and Emart24, in 2023, and has served as CEO of Emart since 2024.

He was promoted to president in Shinsegae Group’s annual executive appointments in October 2024. The promotion came one year after he took the helm of Emart.

In 2025, he was elected chairman of the Korea Chainstores Association, expanding his external activities as a representative of the retail industry.
