Yun Ho-jung is South Korea's Minister of the Interior and Safety.

He is focusing on designing institutional frameworks for adjusting investigative powers following prosecution reform and ensuring the successful establishment of the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency. He is also interested in implementing an AI-powered government.

He was born on March 27, 1963, in Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province.

He graduated from Chuncheon High School and Seoul National University with a degree in philosophy.

He entered politics as a planning committee member at the Planning and Coordination Office of the Peace Democratic Party, now the Democratic Party of Korea, and later worked as an aide to lawmaker Han Gwang-ok and as a deputy spokesperson for the Democratic Party.

He was elected to the National Assembly from Guri, Gyeonggi Province, in the 17th general election and went on to win four consecutive elections from the 19th through the 22nd, becoming a five-term lawmaker.

After serving as head of policy planning for presidential candidate Moon Jae-in, he served as chair of the Democratic Party's Policy Committee and secretary-general.

During the 21st National Assembly, he served as floor leader of the Democratic Party and chair of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee. Following the 20th presidential election, he became chair of the Democratic Party's Emergency Steering Committee.

In the 21st presidential election, he led the campaign of Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung as chief campaign headquarters director.

He was appointed the first Minister of the Interior and Safety under the Lee Jae-myung administration.
