When Daewoo Group was dismantled in the wake of the IMF financial crisis, he founded Nexol, the predecessor of Celltrion, with former Daewoo Motor colleagues in 1999 and entered the biosimilar business.
He developed Remsima, the world's first antibody biosimilar.
He stepped down from management in 2020 after establishing a professional management system at Celltrion Group, but returned in 2023.
