Kim Jeong-kag is the President and CEO of Korea Securities Finance Corporation.
He is working to strengthen the company’s core businesses, including the management of investor deposits and the provision of liquidity to securities firms.
He is also focusing on expanding the company’s role into foreign currency financing and growth financing.
He was born on April 25, 1969, in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province.
He graduated from Cheongju High School and Seoul National University with a degree in economics. He earned master’s degrees in finance from the Graduate School of Business at Michigan State University in the United States and in public policy from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, respectively.
He entered public service after passing the 36th Higher Civil Service Examination. He served as director of the Asset Management Division and the Industrial Finance Division. He also worked as Director General for Financial Policy for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Low-Income Households, Director General for Planning and Coordination, and Director General for Capital Markets Policy.
He was appointed head of the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit and served as a standing commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission.
In June 2024, he was appointed President and CEO of Korea Securities Finance Corporation.
He spent about 30 years at the Financial Supervisory Commission and the Financial Services Commission.
Although his expertise as a former financial bureaucrat was recognized, his appointment also drew controversy at the time over allegations that he was a “parachute appointee” of the Yoon Suk Yeol administration.
