Kim Dong-myung is CEO and president of LG Energy Solution.
He was born on June 30, 1969.
He graduated from Wooshin High School in Seoul and the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at Yonsei University. He earned master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
He joined LG Chem as a researcher at its Battery Research Institute and worked as head of the Assembly Technology Team, head of the New Battery Applications Project Team, and the person responsible for polymer and creditworthiness development at the Small Battery Development Center.
After serving as head of Small Battery Product Planning and head of the Small Battery Business Division, he was promoted to vice president and head of the Automotive Battery Business Division in 2020. He then moved to LG Energy Solution following its spin-off from LG Chem.
In March 2024, he was appointed CEO and president of LG Energy Solution.
With a background as a researcher, he has a deep understanding of the entire battery business, including not only development but also production and product planning.
