Cha Jeong-hoon is the chairman of MK Electron. He also serves as chairman of Korea Real Estate Investment & Trust.

He was born on January 15, 1963.

He graduated from Haesung High School in Jeonju and earned a degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Kyung Hee University.

After graduating from university, he began his career in Jeonju. In 1995, he became CEO of Shinsung Engineering & Construction.

Through aggressive mergers and acquisitions, he became chairman of MK Electron in 2006 and chairman of Korea Real Estate Investment & Trust in 2015.

He later acquired Dongbu Corporation and HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, formerly Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, in succession, building a vast business group spanning manufacturing, construction and finance.

He is under investigation by prosecutors over allegations of embezzlement and breach of trust involving tens of billions of won.

He faces the task of addressing concerns over a decline in external credibility and the loss of global clients caused by prolonged owner-related risks.
