Life Summary

Chung Yong-jin is chairman of Shinsegae Group.

He is serving as the head of Shinsegae Group on behalf of his mother, Lee Myung-hee, general chairwoman of Shinsegae Group, while taking charge of E-Mart, one of the two main pillars of Shinsegae Group’s business.

He was born on September 19, 1968, as the elder of one son and one daughter of former Shinsegae honorary chairman Chung Jae-eun and Shinsegae Group general chairwoman Lee Myung-hee.

He graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Western history and from Brown University in the United States with a degree in economics.

He began his career at Korea Fujitsu.

He joined Shinsegae, served as vice president and vice chairman of the management support office, and became CEO in 2010.

He also served as CEO of E-Mart before stepping down as CEO in 2013.

He became chairman of Shinsegae Group in 2024.

In June 2026, he was nominated as CEO of E-Mart and Shinsegae Property.

As his younger sister, Shinsegae Chairwoman Chung Yoo-kyung, leads the department store and fashion businesses and pushes for independence, he is focusing on work to separate the group’s affiliates.
