Hwang Ki-yeon is the president of the Export-Import Bank of Korea.
He has set strengthening the competitiveness of export companies, expanding strategic project wins, and fostering the artificial intelligence (AI) industry as key tasks.
He is also focusing his efforts on nurturing small and medium-sized companies with technological strength and growth potential and expanding support for companies outside the Seoul metropolitan area.
He was born on December 5, 1968, in Iksan, North Jeolla Province.
He graduated from Iri High School in North Jeolla Province and Jeonbuk National University with a degree in business administration. He earned a master’s degree in management information systems from the KAIST College of Business.
He joined the Export-Import Bank of Korea and worked as head of the Trade Finance Department and head of the Washington office. He became president of the bank after serving as head of the Planning Department and head of the Inter-Korean Cooperation Division.
He holds a practical belief that finance should support companies so they can withstand difficult decisions.
He is active in communicating with employees.
