Koo Kwang-mo is the chairman of LG Group. He also serves as CEO of LG Corp., the holding company of LG Group.
He places customers as the top priority, to the extent that he refers to employees as “customer value creators.”
He was born on January 23, 1978, in Seoul, as the eldest son of Koo Bon-neung, chairman of Heesung Group, who is the younger brother of former LG Group chairman Koo Bon-moo. In 2004, he was legally adopted by former chairman Koo Bon-moo.
He graduated from Yeongdong High School in Seoul and earned a degree in computer science from Rochester Institute of Technology in the United States. He also studied in the MBA program at Stanford Graduate School of Business in the United States.
He worked at LG Electronics before moving to a startup.
After returning to LG Electronics, he served as managing director of the LG Synergy Team and head of the Information Display (ID) business at LG Electronics’ B2B Business Division. In 2018, he was appointed chairman and CEO of LG Corp.
He places strong emphasis on execution and focuses on internal growth while also giving weight to cooperation with external partners.
He is known for his modest, humble, and pragmatic mindset.
