Chung Yong-jin is the Chairman of Shinsegae Group.
Acting as the group’s de facto head on behalf of his mother, Lee Myung-hee, General Chairwoman of Shinsegae Group, he is in charge of E-Mart, one of the two main business pillars of the group alongside Shinsegae.
He was born on September 19, 1968, as the first child among one son and one daughter of the late Chung Jae-eun, former Honorary Chairman of Shinsegae, and Lee Myung-hee, General Chairwoman of Shinsegae Group.
He graduated from the Department of Western History at Seoul National University and the Department of Economics at Brown University in the United States.
He began his professional career at Fujitsu Korea.
After joining Shinsegae, he served as Vice President of the Management Support Office and later as Vice Chairman, before being appointed CEO in 2010.
He also served as CEO of E-Mart, but stepped down from all CEO positions in 2013.
In 2024, he was appointed Chairman of Shinsegae Group.
As his younger sister, Chung Yoo-kyung, Chairman of Shinsegae, leads the department store and fashion businesses and is pushing for independence, he is focusing on the process of separating affiliated companies.
