Sung Dai-gou is the CEO of Tongyang Life Insurance.

He is working to achieve the chemical integration of Tongyang Life and ABL Life, which have been incorporated as subsidiaries of Woori Financial Group.

He was born on February 23, 1967, in Yeongcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

He graduated from Neungin High School in Daegu and from the Department of Economics at Hanyang University.

He completed a master’s program in Securities Finance at the Hanyang University Graduate School of Business and earned a J.D. degree from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in the United States.

After passing the 33rd Higher Civil Service Examination, he worked at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and the Office of the Senior Secretary to the President for National Planning at the Blue House. At the Financial Services Commission, he served as Director of the Insurance Division, Director of the Banking Division, and Secretary-General of the Public Fund Oversight Committee.

After leaving public service, he worked as an international lawyer at the law firm Bae, Kim & Lee and was then appointed President of the Korea Insurance Development Institute. He later entered the financial industry when he was recruited as the CEO of Shinhan Life. He was appointed CEO of Shinhan Life, the newly launched integrated entity of Shinhan Life and Orange Life, leading the insurance business of Shinhan Financial Group.

After joining Woori Financial Group, he served as head of the Acquisition Task Force, overseeing the entire process of acquiring Tongyang Life and ABL Life.

He was appointed CEO of Tongyang Life in July 2025.

He faces the task of restoring financial soundness and improving profitability, which has been cut in half.

He is known for valuing substance over form and for his strong execution skills.
