Jang Woo-ick is the CEO of Y-Biologics.

He was born in October 1956 in Seoul.

He graduated from the College of Medicine at Yonsei University and earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees in medicine from Yonsei University Graduate School.

After completing his residency at Severance Hospital, he served as a professor at Yonsei University Wonju College of Medicine.

He entered the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry when he was appointed Vice President of SmithKline Beecham Korea. He later served as Vice President of Lilly Korea, Director and Executive Director of the Medical Affairs Division at MSD Korea, and Vice President of the Central Research Institute and R&D Headquarters at Handok.

He then moved to CHA Medical Group, where he worked as Director of the Comprehensive Research Institute and as Professor and Chair of the Graduate School of Medicine at CHA University. He also served as CEO of SL Bigen, founded by Sung Young-chul, the founder of Genexine and Progen, and as Senior Vice President and Advisor at CHA Medical Group.

In September 2022, he was appointed CEO of Y-Biologics, a company developing antibody-based new drugs using its proprietary antibody discovery platform technology.

As a physician with 45 years of experience spanning both the pharmaceutical industry and medical academia, he plays a leading role in establishing strategies for new drug development and commercialization.
