Life Summary

Chung Joon is the CEO of Solid.

He was born on August 31, 1963.

He graduated from Yangjeong High School in Seoul and earned a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from Seoul National University.

He received both his master’s and doctoral degrees in electronic engineering from Stanford University in the United States.

After working as a researcher at Stanford University, he served as a visiting researcher at Hitachi Central Research Laboratory in Japan and as a senior researcher at the Research and Development Headquarters of Korea Telecom (KT).

In 1998, he founded SolidTech (now Solid), the first in-house venture of KT.

He acquired Pantech, which was struggling financially, but failed to revive it.

As the head of a wireless communication equipment company, he has been striving to expand Solid’s market influence in optical and satellite communications as future growth engines.

He is a full member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and has served as chairman of the Korea Venture Business Association.
