He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Sungkyunkwan University and a master’s degree in biology from its graduate school. He later received a Ph.D. in molecular virology from Texas State University in the United States.

After completing his postdoctoral research at Stanford University School of Medicine, he was appointed assistant professor at the Cancer Center of Yonsei University College of Medicine, where he built his academic career.

In 2000, he founded Genomictree, a company specializing in genome-based cancer diagnostics.

He is committed to developing the company into a global leader in early cancer detection technologies.

He also serves as Vice President of the Biohealthcare Association.
