Life Summary
Song Chi-young is the President of POSCO E&C.
He was born on November 19, 1964, in Busan.
He graduated from Busan Dong High School and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Pukyong National University. He later completed an MBA program at the Graduate School of Technology Management at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology).
He began his career at POSCO Group in 1989 and built his expertise in safety through various roles, including Head of the Safety and Disaster Prevention Department at Gwangyang Works, Head of the POSCO Global Safety and Health Group, Deputy Head of the Safety and Environment Department at Pohang Works, and Head of the Safety and Health Center (CSO) at POSCO E&C.
In 2024, he was appointed President and CEO of POSCO M-TECH and also served as Vice President and Head of the Facility Reinforcement TF Team at POSCO.
In August 2025, he became President of POSCO E&C, succeeding former CEO Jeong Hee-min, who resigned after just eight months in the role following a series of worker safety accidents that occurred only a week apart.
He is recognized as one of POSCO Group’s leading safety experts.
He is tasked with devoting his full efforts to preventing further serious industrial accidents at POSCO E&C.
