Life Summary

Jiyong Choi is the President and CEO of Hyundai Himsen.

He was born on April 1, 1967.

Choi graduated from Gunsan Dong High School and earned his degree in economics from Sungkyunkwan University.

He began his career at Samsung Heavy Industries, working in the sales team of the Construction Equipment Division.

When the Construction Equipment Division of Samsung Heavy Industries was sold to Sweden’s Volvo Group, Choi participated in the post-merger integration (PMI) process alongside Volvo’s CFO and the acquiring company.

He later joined Otis Elevator, where he served as CFO. Afterward, he worked in the Financial Planning Department at Halla Climate Control (now Hanon Systems) following its acquisition by Hankook Tire. He was then recruited as CFO of Hyundai Himsen.

In June 2021, Choi was appointed as President and CEO of Hyundai Himsen.

Through the launch of new businesses such as port cranes, he led rapid growth at the company and helped it become the top ship block manufacturer in South Korea.

Hyundai Himsen is now preparing for a sale of its management rights, estimated to be worth around KRW 500 billion (US$ 360 million).
