Life Summary

Yun Seog-dae is the President of Korea Water Resources Corporation.

He was born on March 1, 1967 (lunar calendar) in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province.

He graduated from Dongsan High School in Daejeon and earned a degree in sociology from Chungnam National University.

He received a master’s degree in urban planning from the Graduate School of Regional Development at Hannam University and a doctorate in engineering from the Graduate School of Soongsil University.

He began his career at Geumseong Baekjo Housing, where he worked in management planning and business development. He was later appointed CEO of Taedong Development, a company specializing in real estate development and consulting for Geumseong Baekjo Housing.

Due to his activist background during his college years, he was recruited by the Democratic Party in 1995 and ran as the Unified Democratic Party’s candidate for the Daejeon Seo-gu Gap constituency in the 15th National Assembly election, but was unsuccessful.

When the Unified Democratic Party merged with the New Korea Party, he joined as a founding member of the Grand National Party and assisted former Grand National Party leader Lee Hoi-chang in his presidential campaign.

He went on to be affiliated with the Bareun Party, the Bareunmirae Party, and the New Conservative Party. During the 20th presidential election, he served in the campaign of Yoon Suk Yeol, the People Power Party’s presidential candidate, as Director of Vision Planning at the Economic and Social Committee of the Central Election Committee and as a Policy Advisor in the Secretariat.

He was appointed President of Korea Water Resources Corporation on June 19, 2023.

At the time of his appointment, there was criticism over his lack of expertise and controversy surrounding the appointment of the first “politician-turned-president,” raising concerns over parachute appointments.
