After working at McKinsey and LG Construction, he joined the SK Group.

Within SK, he has held various executive roles, including President of the R&C (Resource & Chemicals) division at SK Energy, CEO of SK Lubricants, President of the R&M (Refining & Marketing) division at SK Energy, Head of the G&G (Global & Growth) Task Force, CEO of SK E&S, and Chair of both the Global Growth Committee and the Energy & Chemicals Committee within the SK SUPEX Council.

During the management rights dispute with hedge fund Sovereign, he played a key role as Chief Financial Officer in defending the SK Group owner's family’s control over the company.

He has worked closely for many years with Chey Jae-won, Executive Vice Chairman of SK Innovation and younger brother of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won.

He is known for his calm demeanor and rational decision-making.

He enjoys reading and has a deep interest in the humanities.
