Life Summary
Bae Jae-kyu is the CEO and President of Korea Investment Management, where he also serves as Chairman of the Board.
After successfully securing his third consecutive term as CEO, he has been focusing the organization’s capabilities on placing Korea Investment Management among the top three in the exchange-traded fund (ETF) market.
He was born on the 25th day of the 6th lunar month in 1961 in Sancheong, South Gyeongsang Province.
He graduated from Boseong High School in Seoul and earned a degree in Economics from Yonsei University.
He began his career at Korea General Finance and later worked in the equity investment team at SK Securities before moving to Samsung Asset Management.
While at Samsung Asset Management, he spearheaded the domestic ETF market by launching Asia’s first leveraged and inverse ETFs, earning him nicknames such as “pioneer of ETFs” and “father of ETFs.”
After serving as Executive Vice President at Samsung Asset Management, he joined Korea Investment Management.
