Life Summary

Kim Ee-eul is the President and CEO of Satrec Initiative.

He led the development of South Korea’s first exported satellite at Satrec Initiative.

Born on August 16, 1969, Kim graduated from Daejeon Science High School and studied electrical and electronic engineering at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). He earned a Master of Engineering in satellite engineering and a Ph.D. in physics from University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom.

Kim began his career at the KAIST Satellite Technology Research Center. After joining Satrec Initiative in 2000, he served as the head of satellite platform development and later took on overall business operations.

In December 2018, he was appointed CEO of Satrec Initiative. After the company became part of Hanwha Aerospace in 2021, Kim continued to lead it as CEO, recognized for both his technical expertise and managerial capabilities.

At KAIST, he contributed to the development of Korea’s first satellite series, the “Wooribyul” project, by working on the satellite platform and system development.

Kim has played a key role in advancing Satrec Initiative’s independent development and enhancement of critical technologies for high-performance Earth observation satellite systems, including satellite platforms, electro-optical payloads, and ground station technologies.
