Chey Tae-won is the Chairman of SK Group and also serves as the Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

He graduated from Shinil High School in Seoul and earned a degree in physics from Korea University. He later studied economics at the University of Chicago and completed a combined master’s and Ph.D. program at the university's graduate school.

Chey joined Sunkyung as a director in the Corporate Planning Office and went on to serve as executive director of Sunkyung America and managing director of Yukong. In 1997, he became CEO of SK.

In 1998, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of SK. He also concurrently served as CEO of SK Innovation and SK Hynix.

As Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he actively engages in external affairs.

He is recognized for his strong global network and business acumen.

Chey is known for his large build and natural athleticism. He is not only personally passionate about sports but also actively supports the operation of sports teams at the group level.

He is currently undergoing divorce and property division proceedings with his wife, Noh So-young, director of Art Center Nabi.
