Lim Yun-soo is the president of Myongji University. His three-year term began on January 1, 2025.
He has set a clear goal of elevating Myongji University into one of the “top 10 prestigious private universities in Korea” during his tenure.
Lim was born on March 3, 1958.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering from Seoul National University and went on to obtain both his master’s and doctoral degrees in engineering from Clemson University in the United States.
From 1992, he worked for three years as a senior researcher at the Agency for Defense Development before joining the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the College of Engineering at Myongji University in 1995.
Over the years, he held several key positions within the university, including Dean of Graduate Studies, Chair of the University Innovation Support Project Steering Committee, Director of Educational Affairs, and Vice President for Academic Affairs. In these roles, he played a pivotal part in developing and implementing the university’s “MJU2025 3.0 Mid- to Long-Term Development Plan.”
After retiring in August 2023, he continued to serve as an honorary professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
In 2024, he was appointed the 13th president of Myongji University.
A specialist in the field of materials science and engineering, Lim is committed to fostering creative and convergent talents who are equipped for the future society. He promotes specialized education aligned with core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as innovative curricula centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.
