He served as a judge in the Court Administration Planning and Coordination Office, a legal cooperation officer at the U.S. Embassy, and a judge at the Seoul High Court.

During the Lee Myung-bak administration, he worked as a legal secretary at the Blue House and later moved to Kim & Chang Law Firm.

While at Kim & Chang, he handled the lawsuit between courier companies and Coupang regarding Coupang's Rocket Delivery and provided legal advice related to Coupang.

In 2020, he was appointed as the CEO and Managing Director of Coupang.
