Kim Jong-hyun is the Vice Chairman and CEO of DL and also serves as the CEO of DL Chemical.
He is enhancing the business capabilities of Kraton, a U.S. company acquired by DL in 2022, and is driving the growth of DL Group's chemical business.
Born on October 17, 1959, in Yeongcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do, he graduated from Seongnam High School in Seoul and earned a degree in economics from Sungkyunkwan University.
He received a master's degree in business administration from McGill University in Canada.
After joining LG Group in 1984, he worked there for 38 years until he retired as an advisor to LG Energy Solution at the end of 2021.
He went through LG Household & Health Care and the Chairman's Office of LG Group. At LG Chem, he started as an executive in charge of management innovation, then served as the head of the Rubber/Specialty Resins Division, Small Battery Division, Automotive Battery Division, and Battery Division.
He was appointed as the first CEO of LG Energy Solution, which was launched after the battery division of LG Chem was physically separated.
He is credited with leading LG Chem to become the No. 1 company in the global electric vehicle battery market, marking the significant growth phase of the battery business.
In 2021, he took responsibility for the recall due to the General Motors (GM) fire incident and stepped down from his position at LG, then worked as an advisor before joining DL Chemical as CEO of DL Group's chemical company.
He emphasizes the 'three spirits' of courage, wisdom, and perseverance to his employees.
