Chung Mong-jin is the CEO and Chairman of KCC.
After acquiring Momentive, a world-renowned silicone company, he has been focusing on growing the silicone business as KCC's future growth engine.
He has put effort into developing building materials such as paint, plate glass, and insulation, making KCC the top building materials company in South Korea.
He was born on August 5, 1960, in Seoul as the eldest son of Chung Sang-young, the honorary chairman of KCC.
He graduated from Yongsan High School in Seoul and majored in Business Administration at Korea University. He received a master's degree in Business Administration from George Washington University in the United States.
He joined Koryo Chemical, the predecessor of KCC, as a director and became the chairman of the KCC Group after nine years. He has been leading KCC and its affiliates for 20 years.
He is known for his excellent foreign language skills and his good foresight in investment.
He is regarded as a cautious manager, as evidenced by his statement, “I never enter an unknown field, and I carefully venture into new businesses after an average review period of 5 to 7 years.”
