Life Summary
Choi Kee-choo is the President of Ajou University.
He was born on August 22, 1961 (lunar calendar) in Sangju, Gyeongbuk.
He graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Seoul National University.
He earned a master's degree in Transportation Engineering from the Graduate School of Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in Transportation Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
After working as a senior researcher in the Urban Transportation Department at the Seoul Development Institute, he was appointed as a professor in the Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering at Ajou University in 1994. He also served as the director of the TOD-Based Sustainable Urban Transportation Research Center.
He has served as the President of the Korea Transportation Society and the Chairman of the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee. He is currently a member of the Construction and Environmental Engineering Division of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and the Chairman of the Bus Industry Development Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
In 2022, he was elected President of Ajou University.
