Oh Yeon-cheon is the President of University of Ulsan.
He was born in 1951 in Gongju, Chungnam.
He graduated from the Department of Political Science at Seoul National University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
After passing the Higher Civil Service Examination, he earned his Master's and Doctoral degrees in Fiscal Management from the Graduate School of New York University.
Since 1983, he has served as a professor at Seoul National University, held the position of Dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration, and served as the President of Seoul National University.
He was appointed as a Distinguished Professor at Stanford University in the United States before becoming the President of University of Ulsan.
He has also been active as the Chairman of the Policy Deliberation Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communication, Chairman of the Board of the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Chairman of the Industrial Development Deliberation Committee, and Chairman of the Judicial Policy Advisory Committee of the Supreme Court.
During his tenure as President of Seoul National University, he promoted the corporatization of the university.
He is focusing on enhancing the capabilities of University of Ulsan to transform it from a regional base university to a leading university in Asia.
